Tour description New Year's dog sled tour 4 days:
- On the day of arrival, participants will be introduced to the dogs and the subject matter, and a cozy welcome dinner will be held in a Finnish kota by an open fire. Salmon will be grilled. Afterwards, they will spend the night in the wilderness lodge in rustic Swedish log cabins, which exude a special atmosphere with their wood-burning stoves and candlelight.
- In the morning, we head out into the wilderness with the sled dog teams and spend the night in a wilderness hut or a large Indian tent, far from any civilization. Each team of two people will drive its own team of 4-5 large, powerful Alaskan Malamutes and Greenland Dogs. One person sits at the front of the sled on a reindeer hide and can relax and enjoy the ride, while the other person stands at the back on the runners and steers the sled. The two people can take turns driving and sitting. These dogs are much larger and stronger than the newfangled sled dogs that are mostly used for tourist tours these days. They have a special charisma, a lot of personality and a friendliness towards people. The route and accommodation can be discussed within the group and adapted to the wishes of the guests. We embark on a journey through the wild mountain valleys and can look for traces of moose and wolves. When deciding on the tour itinerary, we must of course take the weather into account.
- On the third day, we roam with our teams through the tranquility of the Scandinavian winter landscape and reach the camp of the wilderness lodge in the evening, where we round off the experience around the campfire with typical Swedish food. Elk entrecôte is prepared over the fire. You can also warm up in the rustic, wood-heated wilderness sauna.
- On the fourth day, after breakfast and saying goodbye to the dogs, it's time to depart.

Overnight stays:
During the tour, we will stay in simple mountain wooden huts without electricity or running water. Alternatively, we can also stay in a wood-burning tepee. Before the stove provides cozy warmth, it's time to chop wood. Otherwise, we will spend the night in the wilderness lodge near Särna. The Wilderness Lodge consists of rustic Swedish log cabins, which exude a special atmosphere with candlelight, torches, and fire-heated stoves. This concept has proven itself with us for 15 years; it's timeless and would have worked even hundreds of years ago; there's no permanent electricity here. Four people will stay overnight in a log cabin; an overnight stay for two people can be booked for an additional charge.
Meals:
The selection of meals during the tour is based on many years of experience and is expedition-friendly. At the Wilderness Lodge, traditional dishes are prepared directly over an open fire in a Finnish kota (traditional hut). Everyone sits together around the fire, and the food is served. Preparing dinner and eating together around the campfire is an experience. Salmon and elk are on the menu. Vegetarian meals are also available, but must be requested when booking.
Weather:
The area is considered one of the snowiest regions in Europe. Winter comes early and says goodbye late. The clear air is very dry, so that it is less cold than in our latitudes. Most of the time it is sunny and the sky is a bright blue shade. Almost 98% of our guests said the temperatures were pleasant. 85% of those guests who were in Sweden for the first time found the winter warmer than originally expected. Very good snow conditions and a wonderful starry sky compensate for cold nights.
Personal equipment:
Für For winter activities you need good and warm clothing, preferably made of windproof and breathable materials. Ski clothing combined with thermal underwear is sufficient in most cases. Head torch, thermos flask, sunglasses and protective cream should not be missing.
Sleeping bags, overalls and shoes for low temperatures can be borrowed spontaneously on site for a fee.
SEK 30 (approx. € 3.30) per item per day.
